Cicame Energie partners with Hydro-Québec for the new 735 kV Micoua-Saguenay line
The new 262 km Micoua-Saguenay line will help maintain the reliability of the Hydro-Québec transmission network. The closure of a number of thermal and nuclear power plants in southern Quebec (close to urban centres) led to an increase in the flow of electricity along the existing ageing transmission network, making this new line necessary.
The technical know-how of Cicame Energie and its test laboratory have allowed us to meet the technical and quality requirements of Hydro- Québec, which often exceed the requirements of Canadian standaDRs (CSA) which are themselves stricter than American and European standaDRs.
In partnership with Hydro-Québec, Cicame Energie developed a specific single-compression end connector and won most of the connectors and a good portion of the forgings for the project. To this were added groundings and tools. The project led to oDRers in 2020, that will be delivered in 2021 and 2022. The line is expected to be commissioned sometime next year.
