Lightning protection: Franklin and Duval Messien presented their writings at the ILPA symposium

On April 21-22, 2016, the third scientific International Lightning Protection Association Symposium took place in Porto, Portugal.

More than 100 participants from 15 countries (France, China, USA, Spain, Australia, Portugal, India…) were able to attend. The conference was organized by the ILPA (International Lightning Protection Asssociation), which Sicame’s subsidiary Franklin is a member of.

Following the success of the first two editions in Valencia (2011) and Chamonix (2014), Portugal offered to host the third edition in 2016 to discuss key topics of lightning protection and to present the latest developments in lightning protection. 4 oral sessions were organized around the following topics:

  • Lightning Protection: Special designs, experience & practices
  • Lightning physics, Laboratory and in situ test, standards;
  • Surge protective devices and Smart SPDs;
  • Lightning detection, earthing and miscellaneous. 

During the symposium, Franklin and Duval Messien, two of Sicame’s subsidiaries specialized in lightning protection, presented 3 publications.
